Lamplite Moodle 2 Theme
http://newschoollearning.com/theme/contest/

Lamplite is my first attempt at building/customising a Moodle 2 theme.
It began life as a customisation of Patrick Malley's Serenity Moodle 2 theme and a learning project for myself, following the support, suggestions and inspiration of Mary Evans - a prolific contributor to the Moodle Themes Forum - during my customisation of a theme in Moodle 1.9.x.
The inspiration was to create a fairly lightweight theme, based on the fact that I use a LAMP server at home to learn about Moodle, php and css.
Following creating the logo and other graphics, I recoloured and 'played with' the css files to achieve the look I wanted:
- creating the logo
- creating the background gradient
- creating the graphic for the section headers
- apply colour schemes to match (according to my very poor colour sense anyway!!!)
- repositioning items - page title, section titles - to accommodate the graphics
Having used Patrick's YUI menus previously in Moodle1.9.x - originally integrating them into Aardvark for my primary school website - I was keen to see the integrated custom menus in action and so brought that feature into lamplite.
This was then accompanied by reworking the profileblock feature from Shaun Daubney's Aardvark theme and its many variations - this has always been one of my favourite parts of the Aardvark themes and a feature I think adds considerably to the look and usability of any front page (especially in my environment where the vast majority of site users are either children, upto 11, or non-IT-confident adults).
Lamplite, then, is an amalgamation of many people's original efforts which I have brought together into one theme.
